Jacksonville Man Charged with DUI after Hitting Road Workers

Marcus McDonald was charged with DUI (Driving Under the Influence) in Jacksonville after police say he hit 4 workers on the side of the road. JSO says his car went through the barriers on the side of the road.

McDonald was arrested in Jacksonville on 5 counts of DUI and given a ticket for having an open container in the car. Even though it was one accident, Florida law allows police to charge a DUI for every person hurt if the person who caused the accident was impaired by alcohol or drugs. A Jacksonville judge set his bond at $145,000. If he cannot make the bond, McDonald will remain in jail until the resolution of his case. Because DUI is a misdemeanor, McDonald is entitled to have a trial within 90 days of his arrest. That is his right under Florida’s speedy trial rules.
