Florida Crime Prevention in 2009 Budget

Governer Crist has released his budget for the next year and $4.9 billion will be used to fight crime in Florida. Crist is using this money to increase prison space to accommodate Florida’s increasingly growing inmate population. The money will also be used fund programs to reduce the probability inmates will commit more crimes (recidivism) and Florida juvenile crime prevention.

Other items on the budget include improving education programs, economic development, and transportation.
